The Annual Luncheon Meeting of the Madison Chapter of the Veterans
Association of Chicago and North Western Railway was held on
Fifty members and guests attended the luncheon. This was a record low
turnout for the function.
Vice President Augie Troia took
on his usual job of selling raffle tickets.
Each person attending the luncheon was provided with a wash cloth,
embroidered with a steam locomotive, donated by June Klann daughter of long time Madison
Chapter members Fred and Elsie Stover.
The meeting was called to order at
President Mundth
gave thanks for the opportunity to get together and said a blessing.
A delicious meal was served at
After the meal, President Mundth gave a financial report of the Chapter. The Chapter Finances are in good order.
General Secretary Treasurer Dewayne Stiefvater gave a report on the financial condition of
the annual report and member directory. With
printing costs continuing to escalate, it is becoming more difficult to
continue the publication. He has
received various donations from the membership to continue the printing of the
booklet. He would not like to see
another dues hike to keep the booklet in publication. Dewayne
also shared a couple of jokes for the group.
Once again Dan and Yvonne Sylvester
provided superb entertainment for the group. Thanks Dan and Yvonne for the great job.
Numerous additional door prizes were handed out. Mickey
Ward assisted in delivering the door prizes.
Last, but not least, the annual raffle was drawn. Several raffle prizes were
given out.
A special thanks goes out to Duane Van Haren for providing several
door prizes of his handmade woodworking items and for his donation of several
items for the raffle including the replica steam Locomotive he designed and
built. Duane’s creations are always the highlight of our raffle
