A Joint Meeting of the Green Bay Chapter of the Veterans’ Association of the C&NW Ry. and the local NARVE Chapter was held at the National RR Museum on Wednesday June 17, 2009.

 

The following minutes to be read at our next joint meeting on July 15, 2009 at the Titletown Brewhouse at 200 Dousman Street, Green Bay.

 

Minutes

 

President, Truman Koehn of the C&NW Vets Chapter read the minutes of the previous meeting.

 

8 members were in attendance.

 

Dick Jobelius, president of the local NARVE Chapter gave his report.

 

Dick Piontek, legislative officer was absent - no report.

 

Discussion included the fact that Railroad Retirement fund has a balance of approximately 21 Billion dollars, or good until at least 2035.

 

Talked about the state building tracks from Plymouth to Sheboygan with the WSOR to operate on these tracks.  Speculated that WSOR may take over local switching at Sheboygan.

 

Discussed MP 243 just north of the depot and the fact that the distance is measured from Chicago (MP 0) to Green Bay via Janesville - the early route for passenger trains.

 

Discussion of various points on the Laona Sub Division.

 

Our next meeting will be held on July 15, 2009 at the Titletown Brewhouse on Dousman Street.
