A joint meeting of the Green Bay Chapter of the C&NW Vets and the local NARVE Chapter was held at the Titletown Brewhouse on April 15, 2009.  The following minutes to be read at our next joint meeting, May 20, 2009 at the National RR Museum.

Minutes

The meeting opened at 9:00 am in the Charles Frost room.  The new C&NW Vet's Association membership booklet has been mailed out and a discussion centered on the new general officers for 2009 ----- for general information.

Further mention was made concerning the loss of approximately 34 assignments in the Chicago to Milwaukee-Adams corridor due to the economy.  This, coupled with the shut down of GM in Janesville, has basically left the former CNW Wisconsin Division men with commuter train assignments.  There will be only one YDM position remaining in Butler, days.

Dick Jobelius, president of NARVE is back from Hawaii and mentioned that there is not a great deal of railroad related legislation under consideration at this time.  But he did fill us in on some new provisions of the COBRA insurance stimulus provisions.   Dick also mentioned that tourist travel in Hawaii is down 40%.   Commercial flights out of Green Bay in 2009 are down over 25%.

We still have 2009 calendars showing our meeting dates and locations.   Bill Clumpner brought a 100 year old heavy wooden mile board off the Laona line.   Remember that the RRB has a new all nation toll free number now in place, 1-877-772-5772 as few regional offices remain available.  We had 5 members in attendance as many are still in the Southland.

Meeting closed at 10:03 am.  Our next meeting will be June 17 at the National RR Museum.
