of the Chicago and North Western Railway held on

The business meeting was dispensed with, it being explained that once elected to office there is no way out except to resign! There being no resignations, the present officers will remain - David Svendsen, President; Mary Flynn, Vice President and Bob Guhr, Secretary-Treasurer.
Congratulations to Ron & Pat Fogarett who were married
on
“Sugar” Cain, Kay Sturtevant, Warren Hachmeister, Dan Sylvester and Dewayne Stiefvater could not be with us this year due to illness. Everyone signed “get well” cards for each.
Jin Hallgren brought us up to date the North Western 16-Inch
Softball Team. The team was started by
Ravenswood office employees in the 1920’s and in 2008 was inducted into the
Chicago 16-Inch Softball Hall of Fame, which is located in Forest Park. This came about as recognition of the
remarkable string of victories and championships under Manager Joe Umana who himself was inducted in
2005. Following the induction, former
team members received a commemorative shirt, one of which was on display at the
luncheon. 1992 was the team’s last season.

The meeting wound up with the drawing for the door and raffle prizes. Sincere thanks to Fred Manrose, Joe Bass, Dave Svendsen and others who brought donations for the door prizes and raffle. Our apologies to those whose names we missed! We really appreciate these contributions, which helped make the event a success.
