C&NW 1083, an Alco SW-1, at the National Railroad Museum, Green Bay, Wisconsin, August, 2004. This isn't the original 1083 - that one went into Lake Michigan at Two Rivers, Wisconsin on March 7, 1958. When the museum painted their SW-1 and the time came to select a number, a board member, who was a C&NW official, picked 1083 as an "inside joke."
